Guppy Camp

Guppy Camp at Camp Nova is currently ONLY open for NSU University School families with campers ages 18 months - 4 years old and provides campers with a summer full of smiles, laughs, fun with friends, and plenty of good memories. Pending enrollment numbers, non-NSU University School families can register beginning April 1.

Session Activities

This summer, campers will embark on a "Road Trip Across America"! They will visit national parks, landmarks, and learn about animals, plants, and trees native to the United States.

Session 1: Exploring the East Coast

Campers will start their trip with a visit to Dry Tortugas National Park in the Florida Keys where they will learn about the importance of coral reefs and the marine life that call the Dry Tortugas home. Then, they will make their way to Niagara Falls in New York and will learn about the unique natural phenomenon of the Falls. They will discover how rainbows are made, learn about the Cave of Winds, and much more.

Session 2: Motoring through the Midwest

Campers will begin their explorations with a trip to the Gateway Arch National Park where they will learn about the Arch and participate in several engineering and STEAM challenges. Next, they will go on a dino-dig and learn about the different dinosaur fossils found throughout the Midwest.

Session 3: Scouting the Southwest

Campers will visit the Grand Canyon National Park and learn about rock formations, wildlife, and flora/fauna found there. Then, children will explore the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta where they will discover how hot air balloons work and participate in STEAM challenges.

Session 4: Winding Down on the West Coast

Campers will explore the Golden Gate Bridge and the engineering feats of the winding roads found in San Francisco. They will end their road trip in Denali National Park in Alaska where they will discover the importance of the wildlife and glaciers in our northernmost state.

Campers will explore the properties of our world by performing experiments, engaging in engineering challenges, and more.

Outdoor Explorations

To help enhance their gross and fine motor skills, campers will participate in hands-on experiences including messy art, nature discoveries, and water and sensory play.

Innovation

Campers will gain experience in robotics and pre-coding using both "unplugged" resources and a variety of developmentally appropriate robots that they will be able to manipulate and program.

Languages

Spanish and Mandarin are the two languages that will be taught during this special. Campers will "travel" to multiple Latin American and Asian countries to discover each country's culture, music, cuisine, geography, and more. They will learn greetings, colors, numbers, shapes, and more in languages.

Deposits and Discounts

There is a $100 non-refundable deposit PER SESSION, PER CHILD that is due when registering for this camp. This deposit will be deducted from the total cost of tuition.

NSU University School families receive 15% off total camp tuition if paid in full by March 11, 2023.

All other families receive 10% off total camp tuition if paid in full by April 21, 2023.

Each additional sibling within a family will receive 10% off camp tuition.

Full-time NSU faculty will receive 35% off camp tuition. (Pending tuition waiver approval: Please reach out to your HR contact regarding where to fill out the waiver.)
